Welcome to the Regional Development Corporation

The Regional Development Corporation (RDC) is a private non-profit, 501 (c) 3, Economic Development Organization (EDO) whose primary service area is Northern New Mexico (NNM). The RDC assists Northern New Mexico communities and small businesses with economic development activities. We work with community leaders to address the increasingly rapid pace of technological, social and environmental change in NNM by assisting communities and industry in managing their economic projects and initiatives.

The principal geographic service area of the RDC includes Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, Taos, San Miguel, Mora and Sandoval counties and the municipalities and Indian Pueblos therein. However, the RDC also provides programs to other area of New Mexico.

The RDC oversees a number of small business orientated programs in Northern New Mexico, including Empowering Business Spirit Initiative (www.bizport.org), Spacetechsolutions.com/nm, Renewable Energy program (REP), Northern NM Connect (NNMC) & Regional Economic Development Initiative (REDI).

RDC was incorporated in 1996 as a 501(c) (3) , nonprofit economic development organization to serve as the Department of Energy (DOE), Los Alamos Site, “Community Reuse Organization” (CRO). As a CRO, the RDC’s mission is to diversify the economy within the north central New Mexico region. As a result, the RDC maintains a special working relationship with both the DOE and LANL.

Here are brief descriptions of programs within the Regional Development Corporation, that highlight our work in Northern New Mexico

Renewable Energy Program (REP) –Energy production is an important component of New Mexico’s economy, and renewable energy in particular has a tremendous potential to contribute to the state’s economic health. Studies have shown that wind farms and solar plants create more jobs than natural gas or coal plants, consume little or no water in the production process, produce no emissions, and create a stronger local tax base. This program creates strategic partnerships between the private and public sectors to enable more clean energy projects.
